Today, the Gridless is the only battery of its kind trusted to provide critical power in extreme conditions. But when Jason Halpern and Patrick Murphy started Gridless back in 2010, they had something different in mind: Farming. Jason and Pat wanted to simplify the logistics involved in getting power out into the fields of Jason’s family farm. From there, the focus shifted from the fields of southern New Jersey to the battlefield when Gridless began developing solar storage systems for the US Military.

In 2012, Hurricane Sandy devastated the northeastern US and Jason and Patrick got the call to help. Emergency responders stuck in areas without functioning infrastructure had access to power in the form of repurposed Gridless units. This brought along the development the Gridless , a system designed specifically to deliver power in a crisis. Since then, Gridless has given vital power support to places as far flung as Liberia, Nepal, and Ethiopia, and has helped everyone from first responders and medical professionals to builders, musicians, and event planners rethink where power can go.
